Bureau
The Telecommunication Standardization Bureau (TSB) fulfills the purposes of the Union relating to
telecommunication standardization, by studying technical, operating and tariff questions and adopting
recommendations on them with a view to standardizing telecommunications on a world-wide basis. In order to
achieve these objectives, the Telecommunication Standardization Bureau works through World
Telecommunication Standardization Assemblies, Telecommunication Standardization Study Groups and the
Telecommunication Standardization Advisory Group. The Telecommunication Standardization Bureau, headed by
the elected Director, provides the technical, administrative and logistic support for the assemblies and meetings of
the groups mentioned.
Duties / Responsibilities
In the Administration Division of the Services Department, under the supervision of the Conference Organization
Administrator, the incumbent is responsible for registering participants at ITU-T meetings, drawing up participant
lists and related documents, and assisting in the material organization of the meetings, to which end he/she
performs the following duties: 1. For each meeting, gathers participant registration forms and any correspondence
relating to participation. 2. Contacts delegates prior to the meeting date in order to resolve any problems with
regard to representation or to requests for visas, when necessary, in consultation with the Travel Service. 3.
Processes from registration forms the information to provide each participant with a badge, pigeonhole number
and documentation requested. 4. Draw up participant lists: pre-registered participants, provisional list and
supplements thereto, and the definitive list that is published as a meeting document. 5. Manages and updates the
Sector's Delegate Registration System (EDRS) database. 6. Draws up lists for the various Working groups and
transmit it to facilitate the distribution of documents. 7. Distributes to each participant (Study group, Working
Group or any other ITU-T group) the necessary documents. 8. Provides delegates with any information they may
require. 9. Files participants' forms by category of Sector Member and, at the end of the meeting, sends the file to
the assistant of the Study Group in question; formats the final list of participants for publication on the ITU-T
website; stores all information for future reference. 10. Records and updates statistics on participation at ITU-T
meetings. 11. Collaborates with the programmer on maintaining and developing the EDRS. 12. Assists the
Conference Organization Administrator in the organization of meetings. including the daily posting of meeting
information, room management, documents distribution, etc. 13. Supervises the work of a clerk. 14. Performs
other duties within the service as required.
Qualifications required
1. Complete secondary education OR equivalent technical or commercial studies.
2. At least 5 years of experience in the field of the post. (A maximum of three years of studies in the field of
the post and in a recognized school may replace the required experience on the basis of one year of
education for one year of experience.)
3. Excellent knowledge of one of the six official languages of the Union (Arabic, Chinese, English, French,
Russian, Spanish) and very good knowledge of a second language. Knowledge of a third official language
would be an advantage.

Competencies
4. Ability to use computer equipment for word processing and data capture.
5. Experience in the use of EDRS, DPS and Web editing tools would be an advantage.
6. Ability to work independently, under pressure and concurrently on various tasks.
IMPORTANT
• The statutory retirement age for staff entering or re-entering service after 1 January 1990 is 62. Only applicants who are expected to
